Cheetahs are majestic predators, but beneath their fierce appearance lies a surprisingly anxious nature.
In fact, their high anxiety levels make it challenging for them to socialize with other cheetahs.
Stress often hinders their ability to form bonds or reproduce successfully.
To address this, zookeepers at institutions like the St. Louis Zoo have introduced companion dogs.
These canine companions serve as effective playmates and emotional supports, fostering a calmer environment.

"It's a love story of one species helping another species to survive," said Jack Grisham, vice president of the St. Louis Zoo.
"When you put a baby cheetah with a puppy, the cheetah mimics the behavior of the dog."
The dog's presence creates a serene, joyful atmosphere essential for the cheetah's healthy development.
