This way you can see if the ground is too warm for your dog's paws

It is quite warm in the Netherlands this year. We now have another warm week ahead of us. We all feel the heat, including our pets. But since they can't talk and say how they feel, it's up to us to take responsibility and make sure our furry friends are fine when the temperature rises.

An important factor to consider is the heat of the ground when walking your dog. When we wear shoes and socks, it's very easy to think 'oh, it can't be that hot, can it?'But the problem is that paths and sidewalks (especially asphalt) heat up quickly and retain the heat, so before you touch it thinking to take your dog, check that the road is not too hot by placing the back of your hand on the floor for five seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

Rather let your dog walk on the grass or take them to a park to avoid tearing their paws. Always carry water with you to prevent the dog from overheating or dehydration.
