A recent UK study shows that nearly half of us (47%) credit our four-legged friends with supercharged mood-boosting powers, making us genuinely happier. Over four-fifths (83%) agree that pets significantly enhance overall well-being. Dogs lead as the top happiness source (47%), closely followed by cats (24%). For men, pets rank highest (43%), edging out family (42%), friends (12%), and others (3%).
After a tough day, time with a dog or cat can instantly soothe us, with nearly 60% reporting reduced anxiety and greater relaxation. Pets uplift us through unconditional love and joyful greetings (54%), cuddles and off-duty fun (43%), and a profound sense of purpose (34%). Plus, one in three (33%) note that dogs motivate healthier walks in nature.
