How to stylishly integrate your pets into your home

Like it or not, your furry relative's water bowl that you step on every day is here to stay, so why not incorporate your pet's needs into your home style that will make you both happy. Stylish and sophisticated, and above all… practical! Here are some tips:

1. Designer accessories

Beauty Sleep:We know that no matter how much you spend on your pet's bed, they will always choose your lap, face, or your bed over their own. However, it's worth trying to help them find their place to sleep, and if they do, it might as well be a stylish one.

With interesting designs, furniture can serve as decor and not just as a bed with legs. Cabinets with food bowls, litter boxes or all their accessories from leashes to collars and brushes are essential!

2. Pet-friendly furniture

Patterned fabrics are a good option to consider to hide traces of pet fur. It can help to camouflage the fur, as well as stains.

Learn: pet owners love leather. It is somewhat resistant to odor and it does not attract pet fur. Stains, spills and fur are easy to wipe off with a cloth. If your dog does leave a scratch, you can usually brush it off. Go for hardwearing leather instead of soft and delicate leather. Or for weathered leather; it will draw less attention to scratches and scuffs.

Furniture protection:If you already had your furniture before you got a pet and it is not completely pet friendly, it is best to protect it. Couch cushion covers and throws will also help if your pets don't want to stay off the couch… or if you can't resist the cuddles!

Substances: Avoid chenille, velvet, wool, linen, silk and tweed.

3. The right pet for your home

Floors: Hardwood and carpet floors call for smaller pets, who won't scratch or soil them. If you have a stone, tile or laminate floor, you might come home with a big furry friend and not worry about scratches or damage.

Pet choice: if you're looking for a pet but don't have any specs, you should look at your home design to see what suits you best. If you have a light lounge sofa set, a black cat probably isn't the best idea. An aquarium is a great low maintenance option as it acts as a focal point in the design and as a companion animal.
